Monday 12th January - walk *** – Around Felixstowe including picnic in the Spa Gardens – cloudy but milder.

After a long spell of cold weather todays forecast looked promising for a windsurf foil as I haven’t been for nearly a month now, a balmy ten degrees with a moderate breeze from the south but cloudy! The wind looked too light first thing but it picked up to around 20 knots so I hitched the trailer and despite it being a midday low water I headed off to Levington at 10.30 dropping Mag off enroute for her second walk of the day! Workmen were unloading so I parked away from the launch and walked over but sadly the wind was marginal at best, I waited awhile but it did not look very inspiring so I reversed out and headed for home via Levington and Trimley churches to take a few pics! At home I peeled some potatoes for tea before packing a picnic but we were not sure where to go? As it was getting on a bit we decided to walk down to Felixstowe prom, past Harvest house to near The Fludyers where we found an elevated spot for lunch with views out to sea, sadly everything was very dull with Essex down the coast disappearing in the gloom and the breeze was very light! After lunch we continued to the pier and the temperature had definitely dropped, there was some gross black weed in the waves breaking up the beach and we were pleased to get off the prom as we turned to Lidl for a quick shop. Home for a warming cuppa and apple puff, we know how to live!

PS - got my first pic on the telly this year, good old Chris on ITV's About Anglia, good to have him back!
